Fuel scarcity bites hard in Sokoto metropolis
Fuel scarcity has hit Sokoto metropolis as long queue appeared in some of the fueling stations within the metropolis.
Motorists lamented the sudden appearance of the long queues as they questioned the shortfall in fuel supply in the state.
Manager of one of the fueling stations in the metropolis says fuel is available and the reason for the long queue cannot be explained.
An official of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) who pleaded anonymity in Sokoto state confirmed that fuel is available in Sokoto and the long queue may be attributed to panic buying following what is happening in neighbouring states.
Kebbi state is worse hit by the situation as fuel supply is in short supply, which informed the relocation of the zonal heads of the DPR to Kebbi state from Sokoto to find a lasting solution to the challenge in Kebbi state.
Black marketers have started taking advantage of the situation selling fuel on the streets at higher prices than the official pump price.
