Only twenty one persons have so far been rescued alive from the about one hundred and sixty five passengers on board the ill fated boat that capsized in Wara town, Ngaski local government area of Kebbi state.
The boat which took off from Loki town in Niger state split into two while carrying about one hundred and sixty five passengers, majority of who are still missing.
Resident in Wara town told our correspondent that about sixty seven corpse have so far been recovered from the water while rescue operation is still ongoing by local divers and state emergency management officials.
Sources say only those with live jackets and few persons survived the unfortunate incident.
The boat they say, was originally for about sixty passengers, but it took over a hundred and sixty persons with some carrying heavy sand from gold mine in the boat.
