Amotekun Corps Nab 18 Suspected Bandits With Over 500 Weapons in Ondo

Less than 48 hours after the Nigerian Army dismantled checkpoints in Ondo State, operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, nabbed 18 suspected bandits with over 500 different kinds of swords, knives, guns and live ammunition.

This was announced in a statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Ondo State governor, Olabode Richard Olatunde and released on Friday.

“Operatives of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State have intercepted a bus loaded with 500 pieces of daggers concealed under the seats.

“Also intercepted were weapons with different sizes of knives and guns concealed inside bags of Tigernuts.

“18 people suspected to be bandits were arrested with the vehicle while two buses escaped.”

The Conductor of the bus who did not give his name said the bus was loaded in Katsina State and they were asked to take the passengers comprising one young male to Ondo State. He claimed he was not aware of what was loaded inside the bus.
