Breaking: Court sentence former federal lawmaker Farouk Lawan to 7 years imprisonment

An Abuja court has found Farouq Lawan guilty of count one, two and three of corruptly asking for bribe and obtaining same from Mr Otedola, in order to exornorate Zenon Petroleum and Gas LTD from the list of companies in the fuel subsidy scam.

The Court therefore sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment

The sentences are to run concurrently.

The court also ordered that the defendant return the 500,000 dollars he collected to the federal government.

Farouk Lawan was the chairman of the House of Representatives adhoc committee probing the multi billion naira fuel subsidy fraud in 2012.
