JUST IN: Five attacks in one night leave at least seven police officers dead in Rivers State

Gunmen have killed four police officers in separate attacks in different parts of Rivers State.

The hoodlums first attempted to attack a police station in Aluu Community of Ikwerre Local Government Area but were repelled by the local vigilance group.

It is unclear if it was the same set of gunmen who later attacked a police checkpoint along the Emohua Local Government axis of the East West road, killing two police officers.

From there the rampaging gunmen moved to Rumuji community And invaded the Police Station, leaving two other policeman dead and one police patrol vehicle burnt.

Also in what appears to be a separate attack, three more Police officers were killed when gunmen attacked the Elimgbu Police Station in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

Eye witnesses say some of the victims were also beheaded.
