Oba Dr. Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara, in the Eredo-Epe Division, has urged youths in his community and beyond to shun social vices and embrace community development initiative.
Ogunsanwo made the plea while receiving his honorary award as a fellow of Nigeria Institute of Management on Friday in Epe.
The award was presented by Commodore, Abimbola Ayuba, Chairman, Board of Fellows who represented Mrs Patience Anabor, President and Chairman of the Council, Fellow Nigeria Institute of Management (FNIM).
Receiving the award, the monarch said he was delighted and pledges to support the progress of the institute.
Alara also reiterated his commitment to community development, promising to bring progress and unity in the community.
“The growth and evolution of the community is my priority, I will ensure that the community witness a tremendous transition during my tenure,’’ he said.
He urged community members to cooperate so that the community would enviable height.
“Ogunsanwo cannot do it alone; it requires other community members’ cooperation.
“I am ready to work collectively with any member of the community with an outstanding initiative that will move the neighbourhood forward, ’’ he said.
The monarch appealed to youths in the community and beyond to shun social vices and other manners that destroy lives.
The Hairdressing Association of Nigeria and Liquid Gas Association of Nigeria, Eredo branch were at the palace to congratulate Alara over the award.
The monarch prayed for the association members, urging them to pay their taxes and levies to Lagos state government in order to enjoy the dividend of democracy.
“Government will give back to the community when citizens pay their taxes,’’ he said.
