A total of 14 suspected kidnappers have been arrested by Nigerian police in the latest crackdown on criminals in Nigeria’s northern state of Jigawa.
Police Chief in Jigawa, Aliyu Tafida, said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday after operatives raided the suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in a local government area of the state.
Tafida added that a 20-year-old lady who was kidnapped on Jan. 8 was rescued unhurt by the police during the operation.
“The 14 suspects comprised 10 males and four females. Two of them sustained injuries because of the fire exchange,” he added.
The suspects will be charged in court as soon as investigations are completed, the police chief told reporters, reiterating the commitment of the police to fight crime and protect lives and properties in the state.
