PRP Reps Candidate Calls on Lagos Governor to Intervene in Transport Strike

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) House of Representatives Candidate, Ifako- Ijaiye, Lagos State, Hon. Odunewu Lawal Rilwan Ayoola(LRA) has appealed to private transport operators in the state to enter into negotiation with the state government in resolving their grievances on issues of extortion and numerous level of taxations imposed on the members of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Lagos by the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee.

As the warning strike enters its 3rd day, the economic activities in the state have been partially grounded, as many passengers and goods are stranded while other forms of transportation systems are taking advantage of the strike without considering the economic hardship in the country.

Stranded Commuters On Lagos Roads

In a statement issued from the party’s campaign office in Lagos, he sympathised with the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Lagos state and called on the listening governor of Lagos State, Govenor Babajide Sanwolu to intervene and consider opening negotiations with the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Lagos state in finding a lasting solutions to this issue.

“As we all know that the economic situation of the country is not inspiring, we should not compound it for Lagos residents and Lagosians that are struggling to survive.

“The plight of ordinary commuters in state should be given a critical thoughts, for they are the one bearing the brunt.

“The economic situation is hard enough, and we should not add more to the suffering of an average Lagos residents and Lagosians.

For a state of over 21 million in population with a transportation system mostly dominated by the private sector, we can imagine the disruptive nature of any model of transport strike”, he stated.
