Security operatives repel pirate attack on tanker near Nigerian coast

A tanker was reportedly attacked by pirates at around 1300 UTC Dec 2 in Gulf of Guinea southwest of South Bayelsa State coast, Nigeria.

The attack was thwarted by armed guards on board. The tanker and crew are reportedly safe.

According to tracks and time logs of the ships in the area, the tanker, LEVANTO that was attacked was en route from Okrika, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, to Lagos.

As of 1550 UTC Dec 2, she was continuing her voyage, sailing in northwestern direction.
