Justice Okon Abang of the Federal high court, Abuja has remanded the former chairman of the pension reform task team Abudlrasheed Maina in Kuje correctional center pending the conclusion of his trial.
The Judge made this order pursuant to the application made by the prosecution that the defendant is in court due to a bench warrant issued on him on 18th November
In a short ruling justice Okon Abang held the defendant is still presumed innocent until proven guilty and is entitled to his rights under the constitution.
He noted in view of the bench warrant issued on him and his bail having been revoked, the defendant shall be remanded in Kuje correctional center pending the conclusion of his trial.
After the order was made not much was achieved as Joe Gadzama chambers withdrew its legal representation of the defendant.
The new counsel engaged by Mr Maina, Adaji Abel prayed the court for an adjournment as he has just been briefed about the case.
Justice Abang held in the interest of Justice it is safer for the court of adjourn.
The matter was adjourned to 8th December for continuation of trial.
